Origin
One of the floral range of syrups inspired by the traditional violet sweets, MONIN Violet delivers the sweet, fragrant taste of this pretty springtime flower.
Defined by its flirtatious scent which teases the nose, violet’s distinguishing feature is that its perfume emits a chemical which temporarily turns of the human ability to smell the fragrance. Perhaps the reason why William Shakespeare described it as: “Forward, not permanent; sweet, not lasting. The perfume and suppliance of a minute.”
The flowers are often used to flavour salads, soufflés, creams, desserts and teas. Candied or crystallised violets are flowers preserved by a coating of egg white and crystallised sugar and are still made in the French city of Toulouse.
Create flirty floral drinks and use MONIN Violet’s attractive bright blue-purple colour to make pretty martinis, candy-themed novelty cocktails or fragrant teas and creamy drinks.
Colour
Bright deep purple colour.
Tasting notes
Authentic violet blossom aroma; acidulous floral flavour which will remind you of violet candies.
Tips
I truly like to mix MONIN Violet with cranberry juice and premium vodka in an upscale martini. Try also to steam MONIN Violet with milk, and cover with a berry ice cream on the mix.
